COURSE OVERVIEW:

This course provides essential skills and knowledge for safely managing lead paint hazards within the construction and painting industries. It combines two crucial units of competency:

  • CPCCWHS2001 Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry: Covers fundamental work health and safety practices, hazard identification (including asbestos awareness), risk assessment, safe work methods, and emergency procedures relevant to construction sites.
  • CPCCPD3031 Work safely with lead-painted surfaces in the painting industry: Focuses specifically on identifying lead paint hazards, testing surfaces, preparing work areas, implementing control measures, safe removal and encapsulation techniques, waste containment and disposal, and selecting appropriate PPE.

Participants will learn to plan and execute work involving lead-painted surfaces safely and effectively, ensuring compliance with WHS legislation, industry standards, and environmental regulations. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for both units, demonstrating their competence in applying general WHS principles and specific lead abatement safety procedures.
